Privacy Policy

Last updated October 22, 2026

Zajaru is a small, invite-only chat service. This policy explains what information it handles and why.

What we collect

When you join, we store your username, display name and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password; we never store the password itself. If you choose to, you can add a short bio. We store the messages you send and receive, with timestamps and whether they have been read. Our web server also keeps ordinary technical logs such as IP addresses and the pages requested.

How we use it

Only to run the service: signing you in, delivering your messages and keeping the site secure. We do not use your information for advertising or marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Who can see your messages

Messages in a conversation are shown only to the two people in it. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted, so the administrator who runs Zajaru can technically access the stored data, and will only do so to keep the service working or to deal with abuse or legal obligations.

Your profile

Your display name, username and bio are visible to other signed-in members, and only to them. Profiles are not shown to visitors who are not signed in.

Cookies

We use one cookie, to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not load third-party scripts, fonts or analytics.

Hosting

The service runs on a private server hosted by Amazon Web Services in the United States. Information is kept there until it is deleted.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your messages and profile stay until you ask for them to be removed. To delete your account and messages, email libre@faronette.com.

Children

Zajaru is not intended for children under 13, and invitations should not be sent to them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
